Samsung is the latest technology company experimenting in the world of autonomous vehicles and has been granted approval to test self-driving cars on the streets of South Korea. Samsung was given the go-ahead by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and intends to develop a number of sensors and computer modules with artificial intelligence and deep-learning technologies.

Very few details about Samsung’s first self-driving prototype are known, but it is said that a Hyundai has been equipped with cameras and sensors from Samsung Electronics. As with Apple, Samsung doesn’t intend on launching a standalone autonomous vehicle and will instead just develop the technologies needed to bring self-driving vehicles to the masses.

The Fate of the Furious recently celebrated the largest movie opening of all time and Dodge is hoping to tap into that success by launching a series of commercials starring Vin Diesel.
Dubbed “The Brotherhood of Muscle,” the commercials feature Diesel driving a Charger SRT Hellcat, a Challenger SRT Hellcat, and a Durango R/T. In the clips, he leads a team of Dodge performance vehicles while providing some Fast and Furious style commentary. Of course, the real attraction isn’t what he says but rather the smoky burnouts and revving engines. Make sure to watch the commercial on ArabWheels’ YouTube channel!

What do we have in our May issue?

We covered both New York and Shanghai auto shows, which took place during April.

Our cover story has been dedicated to two vehicles that were the talk of the show: the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S-Class facelift in Shanghai and the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk (Hellcat engine 700-hp!). The Mercedes-Benz Concept A Sedan was also revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show, as well as the 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon.
In your favorite section of our magazine, Ershad drove both the Range Rover Evoque Convertible and the all-new Chevy Malibu in Dubai. I personally brought some pretty nice vehicles from the heart of Beirut: the Alfa Romeo Giulia Super and the Mazda MX-5 RF.

A special feature has been dedicated to the 50th anniversary celebration of Mercedes-AMG; a rich history of these two brands.

We also covered the Custom Emirates Show 2017 from Dubai, which has become almost the SEMA show of the Middle East where all tuners gather in one place.

Again I leave you here and hopefully I wish you all a blessed start of Ramadan, which will start
around the end of May.
