Issam Eid, Lebanese-Canadian, was born in Beirut, Lebanon on November 8. Since childhood, he has been addicted to everything that has four wheels.

In 1990, when the Lebanese civil war hit hard, his family left the country and went to Cyprus for a couple of months and then immigrated to Canada. They lived in Montreal’s St-Laurent Quennville district, where Issam went to Henri-Beaulieau School for two years and later transferred to Ecole St-Louis Pasteur.

He cultured a swimming hobby in Canada, and when he moved back to Beirut, Issam attended College St-Joseph in Antoura from 1995 till 2002 where he participated in the Lebanese Swimming Championship and ranked fourth. He completed his high school years at Lycee and graduated in 2005. In high school, he was on the basketball and soccer team and participated in many competitions.

To help honor his passion for cars, he wrote his first article, “Herbie, the Love Bug”, published in September 2005. His first work-related trip was to the Dubai Motorshow in December 2005. In 2006, he practiced to race with his mentor the ex-Rally driver, Adel Metni. Issam thought of continuing his college degree in Canada, but being attached to his home country of Lebanon, he settled there and went to the American University of Technology. He earned his BS in Management Information Systems at AUT in 2009. He also pursued an online graduate program with the State University of New York majoring in Business Management and Economics.

He was elected President of the student council cabinet in AUT for the academic year 2007-2008. At the university, he hosted an entertaining safety campaign entitled “Automotive Show” that focused on how to avoid car accidents in Lebanon, featuring Lebanese Rally Champion Abdo Feghali. This event was covered by Al-Balad newspapers on the 28th of March 2008. Issam was also interviewed about his involvement in motoring journalism in Al-Akhbar newspaper on the 5th of May 2008.

At the same time, Issam was appointed Co-Editor of ArabWheels magazine. He also began writing for Telecom Review magazine. He has travelled to many countries on business trips including Bahrain to witness two Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2007 and 2008. Qatar, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sultanate of Oman and Jordan are where he has test driven numerous vehicles and covered press conferences. He has also gone to Germany, France, United Kingdom, Scotland, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Portugal and the USA. He has met several Formula 1 drivers such as Michael Schumacher, Felippe Massa, Kimi Raikkonen and interviewed Christian Klien and Timo Glock. Issam also met the famous Egyptian actress, Yosra, Lebanese singer and actor Yuri Mrakkadi and the Saudi Arabian singer, Wa’ed.

In 2009, he got promoted to Operations Manager, supervising four publications: ArabWheels, Telecom Review, Weddings & Sporteve, Technology & Telecom-T2. In October 2009, Telecom Review was the Official Media Sponsor from the Middle East for the International Telecom Union (ITU) held in Geneva in collaboration with the United Nations. Eid had the opportunity to meet Ban Ki-moon (UN Secretary General) and Hamadoun Touré (ITU Secreatary General).

2010 was a successful year for Issam. In the spring he traveled to Spain to test drive the New Peugeot RCZ, to Scotland to test drive the luxurious Bentley Mulsanne, to Paris to test drive the Jaguar XJ and to cover the Paris Motorshow. During the Beirut Motor Show, he had the opportunity to meet the famous Jean Todt, FIA President. He also took the usual trips within the Middle East region; Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sultanate of Oman to test drive vehicles, among them the legendary Mercedes-Benz SLS 63 AMG Gullwing. Finally, Issam went “On-The-Air” with his new fledging radio show called Auto Strike on the 9th of July on Radio Strike (97.4 – 97.7 FM). Auto Strike with ArabWheels Magazine – finally a soundtrack to accompany the words.

In 2011, he went On-The-Air again but this time with the celebrated Sana Nasr – who presents the Lebanese Lottery on TV – on Melody FM (99.9 FM). He hosted the Technologia section during the Hawa Beirut morning show, a section all about the latest news in the automotive industry. He also was among the very few journalists from the Middle East to travel to Italy, Rome, to test drive the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. Most recently, in September, he was appointed Editor-in-Chief of ArabWheels magazine, ArabWheels website ( and ArabWheels E-News. In addition, he is in charge of all digital operations such as the website, newsletter and social media from both editorial and advertising sides.

In November 2012, he was the only Lebanese motoring journalist to represent his country Lebanon as a jury member on the panel of judges in the Middle-East Motor Awards that took place in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The Middle East Motor Awards (MEMA) is the biggest and the most coveted award of the Middle East automotive industry.

In January 2014, he went “On-The-Air” once more with the famous Sana Nasr – who presents the Lebanese Lottery on TV – on Fame FM (99.9 FM). He hosted a piece during the morning show all about the latest news in the automotive industry. That same month, ArabWheels Web Television was officially launched. Issam was involved in presenting/anchoring some exciting episodes about the latest cars driven around the globe.

In November 2015, Issam continued his dedication and commitment to the automotive industry and automotive enthusiasm by hosting the first ArabWheels Awards ceremony – a grand event held in the most impressive rooftop lounge in Dubai: 40Kong at the H Hotel. More than 20 awards were distributed throughout the evening.

Life experience has given Issam strong management and organizational skills which have led him to be a charismatic and self-confident person. His strength of character has often made him the center of attention, as well as his sense of humor. Social events, cultural activities and entertainment are highly favored, and he feels comfortable in all social settings. Issam’s energy is balanced by his patience and calm personality. He is courageous and enthusiastic to meet challenges and defeat obstacles. Issam’s well balanced character means he is capable of forceful, decisive action, and he has the will to carry through on his intentions.
